The position of Inside Sales Agronomist is of great significance to Wells Ag Supply. The Inside Sales Agronomist connects and sells to customers. This position is familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures and relies on extensive experience to help growers manage soil and maximize crop production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These are the basic duties and responsibilities of the position and must be performed competently. Basic duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Agronomist

a) Develop and maintain effective business relations with current and potential customers.

b) Maintain contact lists, makes calls, and follow up with customers.

c) Respond to customer’s inquiries and questions in a timely manner.

d) Assist customers in developing better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improving crop yield, and solving problems for clients.

e) Provide a consistent communication channel between Wells Ag Supply customers and Wells Ag Supply team members to set proper service expectation levels, resolve problems and scheduling issues.

f) Research and promote agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, climate, weather, and pest damage.

g) Visit fields to collect seed, plant, and soil samples.

h) Test samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes.

i) Assist with the plant sourcing, testing, and selection.

j) Keep detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples.

k) Generate reports and present findings to management, clients, or other interested parties.

l) Conduct training on products and techniques through educational presentations.

Inside Sales

a) Negotiate prices or terms of sales or service agreements.

b) Prepare and submit sales contracts for orders.

c) Visit establishments to evaluate needs or to promote product or service sales.

d) Maintain customer records, using automated systems.

e) Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, or credit terms.

f) Quote prices, credit terms, or other bid specifications.

g) Contact new or existing customers to discuss how specific products or services can meet their needs.

h) Emphasize product features, based on analyses of customers’ needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.

i) Compute customer’s installation or production costs and estimate savings from new services, products, or equipment.

j) Select or assist customers in selecting products based on customer needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations.

k) Prepare sales presentations or proposals to explain product specifications or applications.

l) Complete expense reports, sales reports, or other paperwork.

m) Verify that delivery schedules meet project deadlines.

n) Identify prospective customers, using business directories, leads from existing clients, participation in organizations, or trade show or conference attendance.

o) Inform customers of estimated delivery schedules, service contracts, warranties, or other information pertaining to purchased products.

m) Complete training and attend meetings/workshops/seminars/continuing education appropriate to the position, as assigned and approved by direct supervisor.

n) Inform direct supervisor of all relevant departmental issues in a timely manner.

o) Perform all other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

p) Comply with Wells Ag Supply policies, including Wells Ag Supply safety policies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agriculture, sales, or a business-related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office
  • Exceptional active listening and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments.
  • Sales and presentation skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, adaptable, accountable, and efficient.
